Resource Overview

Subnautica 2 uses a refined crafting system where raw materials must often be processed before use. Understanding the crafting chain saves time and inventory space.

Farming Strategies

Passive Material Farming

Scanning items you already have blueprints for rewards raw materials. This is a reliable passive farm while exploring:

  • Re-scan common fragments near your base
  • Scan duplicate flora and fauna
  • Use the Scanner Station to locate specific ores efficiently

Silver Farming

Silver is the biggest early-game bottleneck. Best methods:

  • Check all caves in the shallows thoroughly
  • Loot supply crates and black box sites
  • Build a Scanner Station and ping Silver Ore
  • Explore wrecks — they often contain pre-looted Silver

Titanium Gathering

Titanium is abundant but consumed in massive quantities for bases. Collect every outcrop you see, even if your inventory is full. You will need hundreds for a fully developed base.

💡 Efficiency Tip

Place a small outpost base near resource-rich zones. A single room with a fabricator and storage locker turns a long commute into a quick farming run.

Scanner Station: Your Resource Radar

Once your base is powered, building a Scanner Station should be your next priority. It removes the guesswork from resource hunting by displaying HUD pings for your chosen material.

How to use it effectively:

  1. Build a Scanner Station inside your powered base
  2. Interact with the terminal to select a resource
  3. Follow the HUD pings to locate deposits
  4. Switch targets as your needs change
â„šī¸ Note

The Scanner Station has a limited range. Build additional stations in distant outposts to cover new territories.
