Subnautica 2 Silver Location: Where to Find Silver Fast
Silver in Subnautica 2 spawns inside caves, in the deeper parts of the shallows biome, around shipwrecks, and inside supply crates and black box sites. It is deliberately rarer than Titanium or Quartz, and it gates your single most important early upgrade — the Standard Air Tank.

Use your Scanner to highlight deposits as you explore. Silver does not appear on the open sandy seafloor like Titanium — you have to look in specific places:
| Location | Reliability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Caves in the shallows | High | Check cave walls and floors thoroughly. Bring a Flashlight — caves are pitch black. |
| Deeper shallows | Medium | Rocky outcrops below the safe starting depth. Watch your oxygen. |
| Shipwrecks | High | Wrecks often contain pre-looted Silver in crates. Beware poison spores inside. |
| Supply crates & black box sites | Medium | Follow NOA terminal waypoints — black box sites usually sit near valuable loot. |
Silver hunting pushes you into deeper water with only 45 seconds of starting oxygen. Craft an Air Bladder (Titanium x1 + Lucifer Rotsac x1) before long silver runs, and memorize Oxygen Tunic locations along your route.
Fastest Silver Farming Methods
1. Scanner Station Ping (Best Method)
Once your base has power, build a Scanner Station and select Silver Ore as the target. HUD pings mark every deposit in range, turning a frustrating blind search into a five-minute run. See our Base Building Guide for power setup.
2. Systematic Cave Clearing
Before you have a Scanner Station, clear caves methodically: sweep every cave in the starting shallows with a Flashlight, then expand outward. Place a Beacon at cleared caves so you never search twice.
3. Wreck and Crate Looting
Shipwrecks and supply crates frequently contain refined Silver. Follow NOA waypoint chains — black box sites reliably sit near valuable loot caches.
Never leave Silver behind because your inventory is full. Drop cheap Titanium instead — you can replace it anywhere, but every Silver ore is progress toward your next upgrade.
What Silver Is Used For
| Recipe | Silver Cost | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Air Tank | Silver x2 | +30 seconds of oxygen. The single most important early-game upgrade. Craft this first. |
| Wiring Kit | Silver x1 (+ Copper) | Required for vehicles and advanced electronics. |
Full material breakdowns for every recipe are in our Resource Locations Guide.
Silver FAQ
Silver Ore spawns inside caves, in the deeper parts of the shallows, around shipwrecks, and inside supply crates and black box sites. It is intentionally rarer than Titanium or Quartz.
Build a Scanner Station in a powered base and ping Silver Ore — the HUD markers turn a blind search into a targeted run. Before that, thoroughly clear every cave in the starting shallows and loot all supply crates.
The most important use is the Standard Air Tank (Silver x2, Titanium x2, Rubber x1), which adds +30 seconds of oxygen. Silver is also combined with Copper to craft Wiring Kits for vehicles and advanced electronics.
