Subnautica 2 Titanium Location & Bulk Farming Guide

Titanium in Subnautica 2 is scattered across the seafloor everywhere and concentrated around shipwrecks — it is the most abundant resource on Proteus. The real problem is volume: bases, vehicles, and tools consume Titanium by the hundreds, so efficient bulk hauling matters more than finding it.

All Titanium Locations on Proteus

You will trip over Titanium from your first swim outside the Lifepod. The question is never where it is, but how much you can carry home per trip:

LocationDensityNotes
Open seafloor Everywhere Titanium litters the sandy bottom of the starting biome. Safe, shallow, and endless — but slow to gather piece by piece.
Shipwrecks High Wrecks concentrate Titanium and other refined loot. Watch for poison spores inside wreck interiors and bring health items.
Scanner Station pings Targeted Titanium is a supported Scanner Station target — ping it to vacuum up every deposit in range before a build session.

Why Bases Consume Hundreds of Titanium

Every structure in the build menu runs on Titanium. Here is what a base actually costs:

Structure / ItemTitanium CostNotes
Habitat Builder Titanium x2 The tool that starts it all (plus Copper Wire x1 + System Chip x1).
Room Titanium x5 The core building block. A modest base has several.
Corridor Titanium x2 Connects rooms; costs add up fast on sprawling layouts.
Hatch Titanium x1 (+ Quartz x1) One per entrance at minimum.
Solar Panel Titanium x1 (+ Quartz x2) Early power. No power means no oxygen inside your base.
Base Fabricator Titanium x1 (+ Copper x1 + Quartz x1) Removes the Lifepod's crafting limits.

Add Reinforcement for hull integrity at depth, a Vehicle Bay for the Tadpole, and a Docking Station to recharge it, and a serious build easily consumes hundreds of Titanium. The good news: Q deconstructs structures for a full refund, so experiment freely.

☠️ Never Use "Refund Bases" Casually

The "Refund Bases" option in the Escape menu destroys your base and permanently deletes every item inside its lockers — including your Titanium stockpile. In co-op it is global. Always empty your lockers before even thinking about it.

Bulk Titanium Farming Strategy

1. Wreck Looting Runs (Best Early Method)

Shipwrecks are Titanium jackpots. They also contain Portable Lockers — each one adds +15 storage slots and can be dragged back to your base as furniture. A single good wreck run can double your hauling capacity while filling it. Bring a Flashlight, health items for poison spores, and leave a mental note of the wreck entrance.

2. Scanner Station Vacuum Runs

Once your base has power, ping Titanium from a Scanner Station and strip every marked deposit in range. This is the fastest way to fill lockers right before a big construction push. See the Scanner Station guide for setup.

3. Passive Re-Scanning

Re-scanning fragments of blueprints you already own yields raw materials — often Titanium. It is free income while exploring: never walk past a scannable fragment of something you own.

4. Vehicle Hauling

Once you have the Tadpole, fit a Storage Module on the chassis and turn long Titanium hauls into single trips. Chassis slots are limited, so build the loadout per mission — storage for hauling, depth and hull modules for dangerous runs.

💡 Pro Tip

Your inventory starts at just 20 slots. Permanent upgrades come from Biobeds in Colonist Bunkers — our inventory upgrade guide maps out every capacity boost. More slots per trip beats faster trips every time.

Outposts and Logistics

The endgame of Titanium farming is not a bigger backpack — it is shorter trips. Since Scanner Station range is limited, veteran players chain small powered outposts near resource-rich zones: a Room, a Hatch, a Solar Panel or two, and a Scanner Station per outpost turns distant fields into local ones.

Pick your main base location with hauling in mind. The recommended first base site is east of the Lifepod — flat terrain, shallow enough (<200m) for solar, and sitting right next to Titanium, Quartz, and Copper. Our best base locations guide and Base Building Guide cover site selection and full build costs in detail.

ℹ️ Deconstruct, Don't Abandon

Moving your operation? Q deconstructs any structure for a full material refund, and F moves structures without rebuilding. Titanium invested in a temporary outpost is never wasted — pack it up and take it with you.

Titanium FAQ

Titanium is scattered across the seafloor everywhere on Proteus and is concentrated around shipwrecks. It is the most abundant resource in the game — the challenge is not finding it but hauling enough of it home.

Base building consumes Titanium in bulk: a Room costs Titanium x5, a Corridor Titanium x2, a Hatch Titanium x1, and a Solar Panel Titanium x1 — plus Titanium x2 for the Habitat Builder itself and Titanium in most tool and vehicle recipes. A modest starter base burns through dozens of pieces, and large builds consume hundreds.

Loot shipwrecks — they concentrate Titanium and often contain Portable Lockers (+15 slots each) that you can drag back to base as storage. Combine wreck runs with seafloor sweeping, use a Scanner Station to ping Titanium in range, and build small outposts near resource zones so hauls stay short.

You start with 20 inventory slots. Expand them with Portable Lockers found in wrecks (+15 slots each) and permanent capacity increases from Biobeds in Colonist Bunkers. A Tadpole with a Storage Module turns long hauls into a single trip.
