Subnautica 2 EA 1.1 Update: Patch Notes & New Features

Subnautica 2 update EA 1.1 is the first quality-of-life patch on the Early Access roadmap, focused on biomods, Blight encounters, wreck gameplay, vehicle docking, PDA upgrades, Sprint, and storage. Unknown Worlds has not confirmed a release date yet.

Last updated: September 5, 2026

What Is EA 1.1?

EA 1.1 is the first major update on the published Early Access roadmap. Where the EA 1.2 update targets co-op features, EA 1.1 is a quality-of-life pass: it improves systems that already exist rather than adding new regions or story chapters. The bigger content drops — new biomes, creatures, resources, and the large multi-seat submarine — are reserved for later major expansions.

Since the game launched into Early Access on May 14, 2026, this is the update most players have been waiting on, and it touches almost every part of the core loop: character progression, exploration, vehicles, and base logistics.

Full EA 1.1 Feature List

Enhanced wreck gameplay Exploration Upgrades to the wreck exploration loop — the core source of fragments and Portable Lockers.
Vehicle docking & fabrication upgrades Vehicles Improvements to docking (which currently recharges the Tadpole) and vehicle fabrication workflows.

What EA 1.1 Means for Players

đŸ§Ŧ

Character Builds Get Deeper

More passive biomod slots means fewer painful choices between Adaptations. Start thinking about your loadout now with our Biomods Guide.

🚗

Vehicles Feel Better

Docking and fabrication upgrades should smooth out the Tadpole ownership loop — charging, upgrading chassis modules, and parking at outposts.

Exploration Gets More Dangerous

Expanded Blight encounters mean deeper runs need more preparation: health items for poison spores, spare batteries, and escape routes memorized.

đŸ“Ļ

Hoarding Gets Easier

The storage cache system relieves the constant locker Tetris of the launch build — good news for miners hauling bulk Titanium and Quartz.

💡 Prepare Your Base Now

If you want to hit the ground running when EA 1.1 lands, make sure your base already has power, a Base Fabricator, and a Scanner Station. Our Base Building Guide and Beginner Tips cover the optimal early setup.

Release Date Status

There is no confirmed release date for EA 1.1. It sits first on the roadmap, ahead of the co-op-focused EA 1.2, but Unknown Worlds has not committed to a date for either. Early Access overall is expected to last 2–3 years, with the full 1.0 release bringing a price increase — so the current Early Access price is the cheapest the game will be.

The story itself is delivered in chapters — one chapter shipped at Early Access launch, with 10 planned for the full 1.0 release — so expect story chapters to arrive alongside system updates like this one over the course of Early Access.
